Welcome to the 2021 Spring Season
The Durham Area Swim Association (DASA) is so pleased to welcome new and returning Dolphin families to the 2021 Spring swim season. Our Head Coach for this season will be Zinnia Balken, who has taught many area kids to swim at Water Sprites, in addition to working in Head and Assistant Coaching roles with the Durham Dolphins and Chico AquaJets. Her assistant, Jasmine Atencio, was a long-time Dolphin swimmer who recently wrapped up her swimming career and began coaching.
Practice starts tomorrow evening at 6:15pm for all swimmers. The Dwight Brinson Swim Center (9451 Midway, Durham, CA) will host practices on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Specific group practice days/hours are posted on our website. All age groups can attend 1-5 practices per week and we ask that you attend your child's first practice if they are a new swimmer. Coaches may need to refer new swimmers to swim lessons if they can't safely complete practice.
Covid policy for practice requires:
1. Each swimmer must wear a mask to the facility.
2. The coaches will ask swimmers to take off their mask and assign them to a practice lane.
3. Swimmers will be assigned a starting location in each lane according to USA Swim distancing guidelines.
4. When swimmers finish practice they should return to their backpack location and put their mask on, prior to drying off.
5. Parents entering the swim facility must wear a mask and stay clear of the pool deck, so the coaches can focus on swimmer safety.
6. About 10 families will need to sign the Covid waiver because it didn't appear on your electronic registration. Tami Parker will have copies to sign at practice tomorrow night.
Welcome to the Dolphin Pod! We hope your child has a wonderful Spring swim and joins our much larger Summer swim team. We hope to safely return to competition this Summer!
